Job Description Summary

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of movie production? Sunbelt Rentals Film & TV, previously known as William F White International Inc. , a Sunbelt Rentals Company, the largest movie equipment rental company, is looking for a Heavy Equipment Mechanic/Technician to join us. With offices across the country, WFW services productions of all sizes from coast to coast and houses an extensive state-of-the-art inventory. Our job is to help bring the magic of storytelling to life, by supporting our clients as their go-to Partners in Production.

This mechanic/technician role performs preventive maintenance, perform advanced diagnostics, and make complex repairs on equipment in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. Our fleet varies by location but primarily include Aerial Work Platforms, general construction tools and equipment. Our specialty lines locations may have a fleet of large-scale power-generators, pumps, HVAC systems and oil/gas related equipment.

This is a full-time, permanent position located in Burnaby, BC. This position reports to the Shop Foreman and the hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8:00am – 5:00pm.

Responsibilities

• Services and oversees major electrical, hydraulic and/or diesel engine repairs of all types of construction equipment as required to ensure proper working condition when leaving the shop:
• Dismantles and reassembles/rebuilds equipment;
• Fabricates parts and equipment as required to meet shop and customer needs;
• Diagnoses complex mechanical and electrical equipment problems.

• Performs check-ins and safety inspections and assists other equipment Technicians with general shop and equipment maintenance as needed
• Conducts preventive maintenance to avoid unnecessary repairs and down time in the field or other remote settings.
• Maintain safe work environment and perform duties in accordance with safety standards.

Education/Knowledge/Skills/Abilities you may rely on:

• High school diploma or GED required, some trade school or equivalent training desired.
• May need to provide tools of the trade.
• 3 +years of mechanic experience with similar diesel equipment and/or heavy equipment or specialty lines equipment (large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC or Oil & Gas equipment) strongly preferred
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic & electrical systems & troubleshooting skills
• Working knowledge of equipment design and safety requirements.

The physical demands of this role require bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors/outdoors when required by the job.
