Job Description Summary

Position Objective

The Business Analyst supports Sunbelt’s Market Intelligence & Strategy function by transforming customer, market, competitive, and performance data into clear insights and actionable recommendations. This role builds dashboards, analytics, forecasts, and model‑ready datasets that help identify demand, quantify opportunity, monitor performance, and enable data‑driven decision making across Marketing, Sales, and Operations.

The analyst partners closely with the Director as well as cross‑functional teams in Data Science, Sales Ops, Finance, Technology, and Digital Product to ensure Sunbelt teams have accurate, timely, and trusted intelligence.

Core Analyst Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Power BI and supporting tools (Alteryx, Sigma).
  • Write queries and perform data manipulation in SQL and/or Python where appropriate.
  • Validate data accuracy, ensure consistency across reporting surfaces, and monitor performance of key metrics.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales Ops, Marketing, Data Science, and Engineering teams to translate business questions into analytic outputs.
  • Perform additional analysis and ad‑hoc assignments as driven by business priorities.

Areas of Focus (assigned by manager)

Market Modeling & Opportunity Analytics

  • Support TAM/SAM/SOM analyses by maintaining structured datasets across regions, customer types, verticals, and product categories.
  • Assist in sizing market opportunity and identifying high‑potential segments to inform pipeline growth and territory or vertical strategies.
  • Build recurring views that monitor external demand signals and market shifts.

Customer & Vertical Segmentation

  • Maintain customer, lifecycle, and vertical segmentation frameworks using behavioral, firmographic, and digital interaction data.
  • Produce segment‑level performance reporting across revenue, retention, churn, and share of wallet.
  • Build dashboards that help Marketing and Sales prioritize segments for acquisition, reactivation, cross‑sell, and upsell strategies.

Competitive & Market Intelligence

  • Collect, structure, and analyze competitive intelligence from public sources, sales insights, equipment trends, and third‑party data.
  • Maintain a competitor repository and assist in benchmarking capabilities, pricing signals, digital maturity, and value propositions.
  • Surface insights on competitive threats, whitespace opportunities, and regional changes through standardized reporting.

Advanced Analytics & Forecasting

  • Support the development and ongoing maintenance of forecasts for leads, pipeline, and revenue using conversion‑based and time‑series approaches.
  • Build funnel and pipeline diagnostic reports to identify performance drivers and bottlenecks by channel, segment, and geography.
  • Assist with variance analysis and performance readouts (plan vs. actual vs. forecast).

AI/ML‑Driven Growth Intelligence (Enablement)

  • Partner with Data Science to operationalize model outputs (e.g., intent, lookalikes, next‑best‑product, uplift) into dashboards, reports, and target lists.
  • Convert model outputs into usable business rules, thresholds, and action recommendations for campaigns and sales plays.
  • Build explainability views—top drivers, predicted outcomes, reason codes—to support adoption across stakeholders.
  • Participate in controlled experiment setups (A/B, holdouts) to measure lift and impact from model‑driven actions.

Data Strategy, Governance & Activation

  • Maintain single‑source‑of‑truth dashboards with certified KPIs, clear definitions, and traceable lineage.
  • Partner with Data Engineering to validate data pipelines, run quality checks, and update documentation as needed.
  • Create self‑service tools, templates, and playbooks to help Marketing and Sales reliably activate insights in campaigns and engagement workflows.

Performance Management & Countermeasures

  • Prepare weekly and monthly KPI readouts covering funnel health, channel performance, conversion trends, and segment dynamics.
  • Highlight risks and gaps in performance and support the development of countermeasure options such as targeting adjustments, channel shifts, or test ideas.
  • Ensure insights are delivered in clear, business‑friendly formats for cross‑functional stakeholders.

 Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years in BI/analytics with experience in forecasting, funnel analytics, or growth analytics.
  • Strong SQL and proficiency in DAX; exposure to Python for analytics preferred.
  • Experience partnering with Data Science/MLOps teams and operationalizing model outputs into business workflows is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate quantitative insights and translate them into concrete business actions.

Tools & Platforms

  • Power BI, SQL (SQL Server/Databricks or equivalent), experiment/AB testing frameworks, and data governance/catalog tools.
